Vijay will be joining the 3 Idiots remake team on February 7th, 2011. Director Shankar and his team are currently camping in Ooty and shooting portions involving Jeeva and Srikanth.
The film’s music director Harris Jayraj has scored a song already and this will be filmed on the lead pair Vijay and Ileana on his first day on the sets.
There was a lot of speculation on who would don the lead role in this 3 Idiots tamil remake, which was originally done by Aamir Khan in Hindi, with names like Vijay and Surya hitting the spotlight. Finally, it is Vijay who will do the lead role.

Vijay Back in 3 Idiots remake
Great news for all Vijay fans. Ilayathalapathi Vijay is all set to do Shankar’s 3 Idiots Remake. Previously Vijay opted out of 3 Idiots remake and Surya replaced him. But now as per confirmed sources Vijay has replaced Surya in 3 Idiots remake.
Vijay is busy now shooting for the film ‘Velayudham’ and will soon schedule dates for the project. Meanwhile, Shankar is planning to shoot the portions involving Jiiva, Srikanth, Ileana, Omi Vaidya and Sathyaraj in Ooty from January 30th followed by a long schedule in Dehradun. The latest buzz around Kollywood is that Ilayathalapathy Vijay has signed up with Gemini Film Circuit to do the Tamil remake of Aamir Khan’s Raju Hirani directed blockbuster 3 Idiots.
Vijay has agreed to do the film and is on the look out for a director to take over the project. As per sources Gemini Film Circuit has signed up Cameraman Ratnavelu for the project.
The directors who are in the race to remake 3 idiots with Vijay are Vishnuvardhan, Dharani etc. In the remake Vijay will play Rancho, the character made memorable by Aamir, while Prakash Raj is likely to do Bomman Irani’s role as Virus. Read the rest of this entry »
