A youthful and fast song that will definitely match Vijay’s dancing talent. The humming at the back is hum-worthy and will echo in your mind. Hemachandra and Saindhavi add that essential pep in this duet. A noticeable point in the song is the usage of the chorus and the humming in between verses. The beats might remind you of a few songs composed by Mani Sharma before. And just like the trend would be, a few English words in the lyrics have been penned by Muthukumar, making this number youthful.

2. Vetri Kdi Yeathu – Listen here

The song starts of with a composition that conveys a symbol of victory or achievement and then the song has a short stanza talking about the hero. This song is probably this introduction. With a steady tempo, Mani Sharma has used the percussions to good effect, with a catchy tune and the humming of the chorus. Ranjith’s voice is bright as usual and his Tamil diction is flawless. Vaali’s lyrics talk about the hero’s attitude towards life and the society.

This is a mass number with folk beats and a quintessential Vijay movie song. Nothing really in this song will entertain you. Even the lyrics won’t find your attention and you may even feel déjà vu listening to the music.

All movie albums these days look like having at least one song with Karthik singing and this song satisfies that craving. A fast paced melodious song between the hero and the heroine, with lyrics about love. The music by Mani Sharma in this one is just another average fare composition. Except for Karthik and Reeta’s voice, nothing is praiseworthy in this song.

5. Thamizhan Veera Thamizhan – Listen here

Lyricist: Kabilan

“Thamizhan Vera Thamizhan…” starts of with a catchy tune and Rahul Nambiar’s voice adds energy to this song. This is basically a paean talking about the hero’s dynamism. With some excellent humming and percussions, this song might see its way in the background of the movie.

6. Naan Nadanthal Adhiradi – Listen here

Singer: Naveen, Shoba Chandrasekar, Janani Madhan

Lyricist: Kabilan

Another hit tune in a recent Telugu movie, Mani Sharma has used the tune effectively for the Tamil version. This song is sung by Naveen, Janani and Vijay’s mother Shoba Chandrasekar. The song starts of with some excellent ‘string’ work and continues with drums that make it a semi-fast song. The string composition is used skillfully in between as well. In between verses, the fillers are just about average and include English lyrics. Lyrics by Kabilan talk about the praises, both the hero and heroine exchange. Over all, a catchy tune.

All in all, as the movie would demand, this album is a mass entertainer that will entertain Vijay’s enormous fan base. Though a few numbers entertain, this album is just above mediocre.

Sura Audio Review – Rediff

The dust has barely settled from his last release, and Ilayathalapathy Vijay is back again with his next commercial entertainer, Sun Pictures’ and Murugan Cine Arts’ Tamil film, Sura directed by S P Rajkumar, revolving around the sea and its people.

The buzz for Sura is greater, as this is Vijay’s 50th film and is believed to be his last commercial venture. He will, supposedly, concentrate on acting-oriented scripts and subtler roles in forthcoming films.

An added attraction is heroine Tamannaah — the “it” girl of the season.

With its music tuned by Mani Sharma, here’s what Sura’s music is all about.

Thanjavoor Jillakkari begins with a medley of male and female voices and strong, crashing beats, rendered by Hemachandra and Saindhavi. This number has semi-erotic lyrics by Na Muthukumar, filled with lusty expressions, longing kisses and English phrases which shout out, Life-e jolly! There is also a loyal dedication to Ilaya Thalapathy himself. The best part of this number is the refrain, a truly catchy Bommaayee, which makes you listen to it more than once. A minus point is that it’s a faithful remix of the Bommali number from Telugu’s Billa.

The words Enga Vettu Pillai, give a pretty good indication of how exactly the song’s going to turn out — but a flute interlude adds a neat variation to the proceedings. Vetri Kodi Ethu is swiftly paced, with a solid rhythm and proceeds along unexpected lines that sound regal and appealing. Ranjith and Mukesh render the song, penned by Vaali and S P Rajkumar. The lyrics are nothing to write home about, but the song itself, though reminding you of Ullathai Killadhae from Thamizhan, is a peppy number, worth a listen.

Penned by Kabilan, Vanga Kadal Ella, sung by Naveen and Maladhi Lakshmanan is yet another hero-centric number that’s all about his prowess, and women swooning over him; presumably a kuthu number. Predictably, it follows the pattern of a dozen others in the same mould, complete with folksy beats and instruments. Yet another reference to MGR’s blockbuster Padagotti makes itself known here.

Siragadikkum Nilavu begins in a classy fashion, with a sax segment, until it morphs into a swift paced number and a chorus that goes chikku-mama, and you lose hope. True to expectations, Snehan’s lyrics are rather dull, all about syrupy-sweet romance, sung by Karthik and Reeta and have nothing new to offer. Hopefully, the choreography and picturisation might present something new.

Written by Kabilan, Thamizhan Veera Thamizhan, sung by Rahul Nambiyar is the mandatory hero-centric song that heralds the birth of the super-hero, the one who will become the weapon that destroys evil and bring his foes to their knees. The beat is brisk and enthusiastic, but that’s all that can be said of it, as the softer sections seem imitations of other, previous works.

With a burst of guitar-strings and keyboard instrumentation begins Naan Nadanthaal Adhiradi. There’s a faintly nineties feel to this song, sung by Naveen, Shobha Chandrasekar and Janani Madhan, to Kabilan’s lyrics. There’s a veena interlude providing some variation, but its mostly heavily synthesized music, to words that lavish praise on Sura — only expected. Guitars make an appearance again — and you wish these segments had been given more space. Here too, the refrain is catchy enough, and meant for dancing. Otherwise, it’s pretty run-of-the mill. Besides resembling Vaa Chellam from Thoranai, it’s a remix of My Name is Billa, once again, from Telugu’s Billa.

Sura, like every other Vijay album has all the ingredients that will make his fans insanely happy — and a couple of numbers that have a broader appeal, despite the remix value. For Vijay fans, it’s a definite treat. For the rest — a couple of numbers match expectations.

SURAA AUDIO REVIEW

Its time for all our Vijay fans to enjoy as the songs of the most expected film this summer, SURA are released amidst a grand function held at chennai.There are totally six tracks and all of them being composed by MANI SHARMA whose combination with Vijay has always been a great success with Pokkiri being their last movie together. Now this time, Manisharma has come out with some refreshing tunes for SURA and songs are already said to be good and foot tapping on their first hearing itself.

1.Vetrikodi Yethu…..

This seems to be the opening song of the movie and this number is quite different from the usual opening song in a Vijay movie.The song speaks about hero’s attitude towards life and the society and Vaali has written the lyrics and Ranjith has rendered his voice for this one.The tune is very catchy and being the intro song, its for sure that this number is going to get more attention when seen with visuals.

2.Thanjavoor Jillakkari…..

Its another youthful number from Manisharma.Hemachandra and Saindhavi add that essential pep in this duet.Although the tune reminds you of the songs composed by Manisharma earlier, the chorus and the humming inbetween will always stay forever and this song will definitely match with Vijay s dancing talent.

3.Vanga kadal Ellai…..

This is a fast paced kuthu song which is a part and parcel of all recent Vijay movies.Song is sung by Naveen and Maladhi Lakshmanan and Lyrics are written by Kabilan in such a way suiting Vijay s mass image with folk beats and interludes in-between.This is yet another song which will keep the fans dancing on floor.
for its heavy beats and dance movements of Vijay.

4.Siragadikkum Nilavu…..

This one a melodious song sung by Karthik and Reeta.The tune is very simple and symbolises the love between the lead pair.The lyrics are written by Snehan.This song is being shot at exotic locales and is sure to be a visual treat for all Vijay fans.

5.Thamizhan Veera Thamizhan….

This song is a catchy one with some good humming and percussions being used and Rahul Nambiar’s voice adds energy to this song.This song will mostly be added up as the background score of the movie.

6.Naan Nadanthal Adhiradi….

This seems to be the pick of the album and is sung by Naveen, Janani and Vijay’s mother Shoba Chandrasekar. This is another hit tune composed by Manisharma who has effectively used in this album as well.Lyrics are written by Kabilan and it talks about the praising of hero.With excellent beats and string work, the song is sure to be the pick of the album among the audiences. Ofcourse Vijay s dance will add up to a great extent as well.

Although the tunes resemble some of the songs composed earlier by Manisharma himself, the songs seems to be refreshing and is sure to be liked on repeated hearing. And Vijay s screen presence and dance is sure to add a great appeal to all the songs.Manisharma s success continues with Sura as well.So its time for us to dance to the rocking songs of Sura this summer.

movie really disappointing. as dis movie is talapathy’s 50th i xpectd a lot.

Nowadays actors who always prefer super action hero roles seems to be transformed slowly to normal and natural roles. At the same time superstars like Rajinikanth are trying their level best with convincing roles like Sivaji and sci – fiction Endhiran with maximum entertainment guaranty.

But there are few actors, like Vijay, still living in the world of myths and not ashamed for giving half baked films like Kuruvi, Villu, Vettaikkaran, Sura and cheating the so called die hard fans continuously.
Sura, the 50th film of Vijay is surely a disaster in his 19 years old career. The story is as old as hills and the sequences are stale and repeated. Vadivelu is the only plus point in this two and half hour horrible experience. Another important point is, S P Rajkumar, who always made some B grade films, wasted a golden opportunity to establish himself as a front line entertainment filmmaker.

I hate Mani Sharma and Devi Sri Prasad. Both just use Telugu songs in Tamil movies.
Tamil music is still alive just because of ARR, Yuvan, Harris and Vijay Antony.

Vijay needs to really stop doing remakes and utter waste mass movies.
Needs to select much better scripts from people like Gautham Menon, Mysskin etc, who make meaningful (although a bit slow) movies. Got buged of the same mass movies.
4 fights + 5 songs + 6 punch dialogues + 500 baddies + absolutely no story = recipe for disaster. Its like asking Sachin Tendulkar to score 50 runs in one over. Even god cannot save Vijay if he continues these kinds of movies.
I used to watch Vijay movies on the first day without fail for maybe 10 years now. Now, I give up. I am not going for a Vijay movie till I get some good review from a non Vijay fan.
For Sura kind of a movie, Thruttu VCD is also too much. Actually Vijay is promoting piracy by making such movies !!! He’s forcing people not to go to theaters.
